In a world characterised by constant change and challenges, the United Nations (UN) plays a crucial role in promoting peace, security and development.

The Vienna office of the UN, one of the four official headquarters worldwide alongside New York, Geneva and Nairobi, is a vibrant centre of international diplomacy and cooperation. Here, SCHREIBER + WEINERT, a renowned company in the field of operating supplies, supports the UN’s mission with reliable and efficient deliveries.

The headquarters of the UN, the Vienna International Center – commonly known as UNO City – was opened in 1979 and leased to the United Nations for 99 years for a symbolic Austrian shilling (7 euro cents). Around 5000 employees from more than 125 countries work here.

The collaboration between SCHREIBER + WEINERT and the United Nations in Vienna is a prime example of the positive impact that a strong partnership can have on a global scale. By providing a wide range of products and services – from office supplies to technology solutions – SCHREIBER + WEINERT helps to ensure that the UN’s various organisations and programmes can carry out their important tasks smoothly and effectively.

SCHREIBER + WEINERT supplies operating requirements to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). It is the central intergovernmental forum for scientific and technical co-operation in the field of nuclear energy. The IAEA works for the safe and peaceful use of nuclear science and technology, contributing to international peace and security and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

The Preparatory Commission for the Organisation of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBTO PrepCom) has also opted for SCHREIBER + WEINERT. The Commission is dedicated to the preparations for the implementation of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT), which bans all nuclear weapons tests on earth, in the atmosphere, under water and underground. CTBTO is setting up a global monitoring system with 337 monitoring stations to ensure that no nuclear explosions go undetected. The monitoring data is also used for non-verification purposes such as tsunami warnings and global radiation monitoring.

“Our collaboration with the United Nations is a central aspect of our corporate philosophy, which is centred on responsibility, sustainability and excellence,” says Ingo F. Schreiber, Managing Director of SCHREIBER + WEINERT. “We are proud to make a contribution that goes beyond the mere business relationship and has a positive impact on global initiatives.”

This partnership emphasises the importance of local engagement in a global context. By supporting UN organisations, companies like SCHREIBER + WEINERT are making a significant contribution to promoting international cooperation and achieving common goals.
